Over the last two years, surfboard building has transformed from a hobby to a full blown obsession for me. Out of my obsession has grown Point Concept Surfboards. I’ve been building boards under this name for the past two years in downtown Santa Barbara. I continue building boards because I love the process, and my hands won’t rest until I’ve created something both beautiful and functional.

dsc06475.JPGPart of my joy in this craft comes from seeing a board when I’ve finished polishing it and its all ready to go. But my main source of motivation is hearing feedback from my customers on their boards and seeing them in the water.

I primarily build fish variations, displacement hulls, and other retro-inspired shortboards with traditional PU/PE construction. Latley I have been experimenting with different composite materials like carbon, kevlar, and some natural composites (check out the Prototypical page).

You can find a few of my boards at the Beach House Surf Shop in Santa Barbara; though 90% of my business is through custom orders; the way I’d like to keep it!
